Shawty Putt ft Lil Jon - "Dat Baby (Don't Look Like Me)"
I'm going to get this out of the way right now. This summer has been HORRIBLE for music. Rap, rock, pop -- it's all been garbage. But even with all of the bad stuff that's out now, there's some stuff that is just flat out worse than the others. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is that song. After listening to it, you're left asking yourself a few questions...1) Who greenlit a song that's based around those Maury Povich paternity test shows?
2) Why is everyone going to be bumping this track the rest of the summer?
3) Why aren't black folk trying to do better?

The Flight of the Conchords - "Business Time"
This season, Jeff Francouer of the Atlanta Braves has used this song as his entrance theme every time he comes to the plate. While I'm tickled at this, I was even more amused at the Braves playing this over the PA system after he crushed a 2 run homer over left field to lead the Braves to a victory over the Diamondbacks this past Saturday (see previous post). Whyso humorous? Give the song a listen and you'll see that it has very little to do with baseball...

Saint Dragon - "Nintendo"
This whole Wii phenomenom has me stunned. This past week I got more phone calls, messages, texts, etc about people picking up Wii Fit. If it wasn't Wii Fit making noise, I was getting together with some friends for a few rounds of Mario Kart Wii. When those two were quiet, Super Smash Bros. Brawl reared its head once more. It's nice to see Nintendo back on top again. Not just because I'm a Nintendophile, but because they have everyone playing games again. Moms, businessmen, teenagers, dorks, "cool kids," professors, etc. It's nice to not have to look to hard for a fourth player.
Techno
Alice Deejay - "Better Off Alone"
Because I very rarely include Techno tracks here, I figured why the hell not? If you're ever bored, grab a six pack of your favorite adult beverage, a copy of Galaga or Breakout, and this track. It's damn near impossible not to have a good time. Hell, you'll probably be well on your way to being wasted by the time you get to the third level of whatever game you choose. That method got me through a lot of boring nights during my sophomore year of college.

i think it was two years ago i was at a funeral in georgia and i found out that lil'john is a cousin of mine. i didn't even know who he was, had to look him up on the web.

The rough thing is is that the people who don't know any better are the ones with the ears and minds of our young ones.
Not knowing who Lil Jon is -- sort of a gift and curse. I can't hate on the brotha, because like Puff, he's a decent enough businessman. But I can't say that I've ever purchased anything that he's selling.
