Sunday Night Selections

As I'm back at home with my mind in the right place (for the most part) I can actually deliver a real SnS this week. Last week I was so hungover (emotionally, not alcoholically) that I just wasn't up to picking out songs. Let's right that wrong this week...

Adult Contemporary
James Blunt - "Same Mistake"
I love this song, but any description I place here won't do it justice. I spent more time last week listening to this song than I did listening to "Pictures of You." Why? I don't know. I've been second guessing a lot of little things lately. Overall, I'm very happy with my life and the way things have turned out...but I'd be lying if I said that that there aren't some things I wouldn't want to do over. At the same time, I worry that if given a second shot to fix these supposed wrongs, would I just make the same mistake twice. Yeap, that's right. Only I manage to worry about hypothetical mistakes.

Lupe Fiasco - "He Gets The Girl"
Disclaimer: I know I've been on this puppy love tip lately but on the lo, I've been sitting on this track for about the last three months.
I'm no Lupe expert, but my roommate is. By sheer proxy, I've caught a little Lupe fever myself. This probably isn't his best work, but its probably my favorite just for the lyrics. As most of you know, I'm a big fan of songs that tell a story. In typical judging a book by its cover fashion, this song tells the story of, you guessed it, someone getting the girl. There's a few clever pop references sprinkled about in there as well. Give it a whirl.

Alternative
During my senior year of college I roomed with Phil, who is one of my best friends. It was a good time as we were both messy night owls who loved random things. Best of all we both liked music. Much to Phil's dismay, my mp3 playlist consisted of a lot of Avril Lavigne and Kanye West at the time, but Phil always kept a lot of "interesting" tracks in his rotation. Two in particular that I became fond of are listed below for your enjoyment. Usually I'd throw in a quip or two about the band or some related anecdote, but this time I've got nothing.

Phil had a tendency for liking bands that no one ever heard of.

Blinker The Star - "Go To Go Through It"

Hotel - "The Pink Crack"
