The Point Is Probably Moot

So I came home for the Thanksgiving holiday and I bought my Guitar Hero: World Tour set with me. I love my family as they're entertaining people and all, but they go to bed too early for my taste -- so I had to entertain myself somehow. In bringing the full band set home with me, I found out three things:

1) My sister is surprisingly proficient at the drums. She's not playing on expert or anything, but considering the lack of experience she has at rhythm based games, the girl can hold her own. Now only if I could teach her that she doesn't have to hit the pads with supersonic force.

2) The Killers downloadable track pack is all types of awesome. "Human" is great, even if it is a bit too hard for its own good. It's OK though as "Losing Touch" is a blast to play. I think it is pretty cool that I was able to grab the new tracks around the same time I picked up the new album. Even if it is just a matter of fan service, I can forsee more bands following the lead of The Killers and Metallica and releasing tracks hand-in-hand with their new albums.

3) As I had some extra Wii Points left over after downloading The Killers tracks, I went ahead and downloaded one of the songs that I've been waiting to get my hands on for years -- "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield. Laugh if you may, but "Jessie's Girl" may be the best song of all time...

See. Even the guys from Penny-Arcade agree with me. Speaking of Penny-Arcade, the real reason for this post is to just remind everyone to give a little of themselves this upcoming holiday season. I know that in this economy money is tight all around, but every little bit helps.

If you don't have a charity or organization that you like to donate to, you guys are more than welcome to join me in donating to Child's Play. In a nutshell, it's a charity run by gamers that is dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in over 40 hospitals worldwide. The last few years I've donated toys, books, and games to the Texas Children's Hospital but seeing as how The Medical University of South Carolina is on the list this year, I may be shifting my donations to a location a little closer to home.

So yeah...In between picking up lots of junk you don't need this holiday season, stop and grab something for someone else. They'll appreciate it more than you'd ever know.

Ok... So I was kinda thinking of getting GH World Tour. But should I get Rock Band 2 instead? I got the old GH guitar. Is that still good on the GH World tour? If so, I'm down for getting GH. I'm talking Wii version. Is it worth getting?

As a Wii owner, I'd leave Rock Band 2 alone. Harmonix doesn't show the Wii the same love that Activision/Vicarious Visions has. And considering that you already have a GH guitar already, World Tour is an easy decision. I love it and I definitely feel that I've gotten my money's worth.
