Sunday Night Selections

Where'd the weekend go? It seems like just yesterday it was Friday, now here we are back at Monday morning. I guess the old saying is true -- "time flies when you're having fun." And while I was constantly busy and didn't get too much free time to myself, you won't hear a complaint from me about it. My weekend was more than swell.

Here's to making it through the next five days...

Country
The Zac Brown Band - "Toes"
One task that I've been working on in my spare time is trying to find some country music that a friend of mine would like. She's not a big fan of the genre, which isn't surprising considering where she's from, but I'm still pretty determined to find something that she'll dig. I've thrown some of the big guns at her -- Skynyrd, Garth, Alabama -- but they didn't really do anything for her. So far, the only song that she's (begrudgingly) liked was this track by The Zac Brown Band. Probably because I cheated a little bit. She's a Jimmy Buffet fan and this song bares more than just a passing resemblance to the style of music performed by the parroted one.

Boobs
Lene Alexandra - "My Boobs Are OK"
October 9th through the 16th is National Feel Your Boobies Week. Seriously. Are your boobs OK? If you need help checking, let me know. I'd be more than happy to offer my services.

Rap
Jay-Z ft Mr. Hudson - "Young Forever"
I haven't been a fan of most of Jay-Z's work for years, but this track has become a recent favorite of mine. Probably because I'm a fan of the piece that he sampled here, "Forever Young" by Alphaville. Much like Alphaville's work, Jay's song talks about eternal youth, but with an expected rap/urban slant to it. Considering the subject matter, it's a fitting finale to his most recent album, "The Blueprint III." It's not his best piece of work, but it gets 3 1/2 stars from me, if for no reason other than he sampled Alphaville. Random much?

Pop
Michael Jackson ft The Jacksons - "This Is It"
The first and only single from Michael Jackson's posthumous album This Is It. I've listened to it a few times, and I've gotta say -- it ain't bad. It's got a smooth sound and has that classic Michael Jackson feel to it. I likes.

Speaking of Michael, I saw the Pop Up Video for Torture from the 1980's Jackson 5 record. I hadn't seen it since Beavis and Butthead, but that song kind of kicks ass. I also like Ease on Down the Road, which came on at the bar the other night and got the whole place rocking. And, let this be the first time Mike's name has came up that I didn't make a sick joke!

Crap. I only have a few more days to be a humanitarian and go around and make sure women's breasts are OK. I hope the wife understands that I need to help make the world a better place. So now that the NFL has been sporting the pink stuff for Breast Cancer Awareness do you think they will start sporting baby blue stuff for Testicular Cancer Awareness?

I tried that 'boob feeling excuse' once too often. Now those funny men in uniform tell me off whenever I try it. They are a hoot. Always with the handcuffs.

"Torture" is definitely an overlooked Jackson 5 gem. I feel the same way about "Can You Feel It."

Shifey
I hope you did your civic duty Shifey. The tatas needed you.

I knew you'd be stoked about the country music. :) And who doesn't like country music? The ladyfriend...but she's a New Englander, so what could I expect?

Toast
Man, long time no see bro. Good to see you've been keeping busy checking boobs.
